Welcome to Waterford Township's Website.  

          Waterford Township is a small rural community located in southern Erie County, Pennsylvania. The Township consist of 50.22 square miles and has a population of approximately 3,920 residents.  The Township maintains 72 miles of roads; 34 miles of State maintained roads.  We're located in the Fort LeBoeuf School District.


FOR THE WINTER SEASON, PLEASE REMEMBER:

--The following are a few things every resident should know to help us provide the safest roads during the winter season:

1. Plow trucks back up frequently; please stay back at least 100 feet

2. Reduce your speed as you approach an oncoming plow truck, they may cause white out conditions that could reduce visibility

3. Do Not let children play in snow piles near any roadway

4. Do Not park any vehicle on any township maintained road

5. Do Not plow, shovel, or blow snow into or across any roadway. Not only is this dangerous, but it’s the law.

6. Keep garbage cans back from the road if it snows on your collection day. The Township is not responsible for tipped, spilled or damaged containers within the roadway.

7. Vegetation and turf situated within the road right-of-way is always subject to damage. Structures and improvements are prohibited within rights of way and no liability is assumed for damage to same.

8. Mailboxes will be repaired or replaced in accordance to the Township mailbox policy.


Zoning Permits are required in Waterford Township. Please call the Zoning Officer, 796-3413, with any permit questions BEFORE building. A list of permits, fees and forms are listed under Forms/Permits at the top of the page

Planning Board Members Needed

Waterford Township is looking for five new members for our Planning Commission which meets the second Saturday each month at 9 a.m.  The Planning Commission is an advisory board responsible for reviewing Subdivision and Land Development plans prior to submission to the Board of Supervisors.
